Dashing through the snow…

okay, so maybe it wasn’t a lot of snow, but we did get a snow day out of the deal! So, I’m not complaining.

2013 Snowday 2 Snowday 2013

^^And hey, it provided a few hours of winter beauty, which of course is the perfect excuse to turn up the Christmas music and get the soup cooking!^^

Much like our ‘snowday’ last winter, the dogs frolicked in the snow/slush mix and napped. In that order.

Cosmo Snowday 2013 Dogs Snowday 2013

^^Now, I know that photo might look bad, but I promise they just love to chase each other and growl. It’s what they do. 99% of the time they’re sweet as pie. 🙂 ^^

Besides, then after they’re all worn out, they turn into little angels like this one… 😉

Piper Sleeping, Snowday 2013

I’m only slightly hopeful we can snag a few more days (not like blizzard amount or anything) this winter curled-up with these sleeping (they’re definitely not as cute when they’re misbehaving) pups.

This looks familiar…

I’m telling you, she’s basically Kelly “The Dog Whisperer,” and much like the last time, there was another sweet little boxer (not that I’m biased) that just took to her. You might’ve seen him on this blog before. 😉

Cosmo and Kelly 5If you follow me on Instagram (you mean, you’re not tired of all those dog photos yet?) then you might’ve noticed we made the long drive to Missouri last week with the pups in tow! It’s definitely not as simple as Jeff and I hoping on a plane, but well worth it with these two and the little bond they had going on. I think I say, “my heart’s melting” far too much, but this time I really mean it.

Cosmo and Kelly 2

^^I mean Cosmo even let her use him as a footrest with little complaint! Can’t say he’s thrilled when I try that too.^^

I’m thinking I’ll just secretly adopt a boxer and leave it on their doorstep. I’m positive my parents will thank me for it later. 😉

They just grow up so fast…

these two. 🙂

Dogs Playing

So in the midst of weddings (not ours yet!) and working on our never-ending project (at least it feels that way), I’ve realized I’ve forgotten to give you all a little update on the pups. I know you’ve been clamoring for one.

Well luckily for you, they’re still crazy and cute as ever. Which….is probably why I followed them around the yard last weekend for far too long trying to snap the best photos.  I’m that dog mom I’ll admit it, but hey, at least Jeff was thankful the camera wasn’t on him for once.

Dogs Playing 2

I think she’s saying, “Wait, you took my toy Cosmo!” Or something like that.

Piper in the Backyard

^^I mean, but seriously, would you be able help yourself either?^^

Okay, so aside from chasing the dogs around, we did get SOME work done. That was until Jeff’s tools failed.

As we wait for the new ones to arrive, I thought I’d leave you with a little photographic evidence of the next phase of the project.

Cutting the Kitchen Countertops

We’re getting there slowly but surely. And, here’s hoping we have a much more productive weekend!

P.S. Oh yeah, and Happy Halloween!

Hiking meets a little history…

especially in a state like Virginia. I guess when your state’s home to one of the Thirteen Original Colonies, and the old Capital of the Confederacy there’s a little history to discover.

Manassas Battlefield Hiking Trail 8

Having never been till our day trip on Saturday, Jeff suggested we take the dogs for a long hike along the Manassas National Battlefield Park. Not only was it beautiful and rich with Civil War history, but it was a nice change of pace from our normal dog walk/ workout routine. Besides, anything that makes the dogs sleep for the rest of the day is a-ok in my book.

Now, I’m not usually one to be excited about activities that require a lot of nature, but since Jeff’s been working so hard on the house lately I thought it was only fair to participate in an activity he wanted to do, and turns out I kind of loved it.

Here’s a few photos from our little adventure.

Manassas Battle Field Hiking Trail

I might have circled a certain crazy dog that photobombed Jeff with his excitement over the hike. That one loves to be one with nature.

For Piper and I, nature’s not always our best friend.

If you’re in the northern Virginia area, I highly recommend the trails. Just a quick forty-minute drive from D.C.!

Sicker than a dog…

I guess since Piper’s a dog and currently the sick one in the house, I probably need a new metaphor, but poor little girl is not feeling so great. 😦

Piper Sick 1

After the long night we had, we’re all taking it easy today. I think Jeff and I may have gotten a little taste of parenthood last night. Turns out we’re not our happiest selves when we have to clean up after the dog at 3am.

Piper Sick 2

Cosmo’s not sick, but relaxing shouldn’t be a problem for him. 🙂 He’s got the whole nap thing figured out.

Cosmo

Happy Friday all. Hopefully yours is off to a better start!

P.S. any tips out there for taking care of a dog with an upset stomach? The more help the better!

It’s for the dogs…

A few years ago if you’d told me I would willingly spend a weekend at the lake with six dogs (yes, six) I would have thought you were crazy. Now, I just think I’m crazy for loving my dogs a little too much. 🙂

Chase, Piper and Cosmo in Lake

A meeting of the minds.

At the risk of going a little overboard (no pun intended), I took lots of photos of Piper and Cosmo hanging out with Jeff’s parents and sister’s dogs this past weekend at Lake Anna, Va.

Lake Anna

It’s one of my favorite places in Virginia.

Chase in Water 1

You may remember, Jeff’s parents adopted both Piper and her brother Chase at a shelter in Texas and then generously let us take her back over Thanksgiving. Well this time, his parents and their three dogs made the drive from Texas to Virginia to hangout with all of us for a few days. And Piper and Chase (the dog in the photo above) couldn’t have been happier to be reunited. It warmed my heart.

Chase and Piper Fighting Over Sock

Fighting just like any brother or sister would do!

Chase and Piper in the Lake 2Chase and Piper in the Water

You might have noticed that Cosmo’s not in the water with them, well…he’s very fast and has a tendency to run away, so he can’t be trusted off the leash. Poor guy just had to standby and watch. 😦

Cosmo Staring at the Lake

Oh, and they just adopted a new nine(ish) year-old Pomeranian (no one’s entirely sure of his age) named C.J., who I’m quietly plotting ways to steal. This dog is not only adorable, but so calm. If you walk him a block he’ll be ready for a good three-hour nap. Similar to my way of life. 😉

CJ

This dog. He gets me.

Peyton and CJ

Peyton the puggle on the left, whew is she full of personality. She starts a little trouble every now and then.

I promise there were humans present this weekend too, it’s just all those photos aren’t quite as cute.

Oh hey….

Piper

do you need something?

Yep, this was our crazy puppy Piper’s (say that three times fast) general state this morning.

Sometimes that girl is just too much for me.

Happy Friday!

Hello Spring…

Where have you been? I’m still not convinced you’re around to stay, but at least we got a full day’s worth of sunshine and warmth.

Cosmo Smiling

Can you tell someone was a little excited about the sunny Saturday?  He wasn’t the only one.

I don’t have too much room to complain about a harsh winter (remember our snow day?) compared to some of my friends and family in the midwest, but gosh am I just as ready for Spring to stay around for good.

Jeff Painting

We literally spent our entire Saturday outside working on a little project I’m excited to share with all of you later this week. It’s not quite finished, but as soon as it’s done I’ll be sure to highlight Jeff’s handy-work (and a tiny bit of mine) for all of you. It definitely has Pinterest written all over it.

I know the suspense is probably killing you, but I promise it will be worth the wait. 🙂

Piper 03.30.2013

So…after a long and productive day in the sun we were exhausted. It’s hard work chasing around Jeff and the pups all day photographing their every move. Sadly, I’m still not sure who has more patience for my hobby, but I’m hoping they’ll all thank me for it some day. 😉

Also, it’s worth noting it’s baseball’s opening day (Nats won in case you were worried) and if that doesn’t say Spring, I don’t know what does.

She can’t help she’s so cute…

and thanks to a floor length mirror we bought (later returned) Piper was able to see what we’ve been telling her for months.

Piper Looking in the Mirror

The mirror was only around for a week, but I think she used it more than I did, which is saying a lot :). The girl can’t help herself, she’s got style. Can you blame her?

I think I took approximately fifty photos like this, because every few minutes she would walk in front of the mirror just to make sure she was still there. It was adorable. And of course, I couldn’t resist sharing it with all of you!

Here’s hoping you’re enjoying the weekend and the springlike weather (finally).

I Know, I know it’s Only a High-Five…

But I’m convinced when it’s Piper, it’s the cutest thing in the entire world (yes, the entire world). And when it’s just that cute, how can I not share it with all of you, right?

It’s official, I’ve become the type of dog parent I always swore I’d never be (as in I take wayyy to many photos and brag about everything they do) but oh well, I guess there are worse things I could do. 🙂

Hope everyone’s having a great weekend!
