The engagement photos are here…

and though you may not admit it, I’m sure you were probably on pins and needles waiting for these photos. 🙂

Engagement Photo 1

No but seriously, my amazingly-talented cousin over at Nicole Clifford Photography just did the best job. And when she’s working with a couple like Jeff and me, you know she’s got her work cut out for her. Sidenote: anyone looking for a great lifestyle photographer in Kansas City should look Nicole up. She’s just all-around a lovely person.

I must admit that although I love bugging others with my obsessive picture taking, it’s much harder to be the one in front of the camera. Especially, when it comes to any kissing photos. We quickly figured out that it’s not really our thing.

engagement photos set 3^^See what I mean? I swear I really love Jeff, but every time he went to kiss me on the cheek I would naturally move away. That’s not a red flag or anything, right? Right?^^

We originally planned to take our photos outside, but the day we’d sat aside for the photo shoot on our short trip to KC over Thanksgiving turned out to be very cold and windy. Looking back, I’m so glad it was, because for our first location we ended up at an adorable urban winery downtown. And if you’ve followed this blog at all, you probably know by now that I LOVE wine (in a socially responsible way, of course).

Engagement PhotosNicole found the location for us and the folks at Amigoni were gracious enough to let us shoot a few photos in their gorgeous space. We kept it to one glass of white wine (although I tend to prefer red) to make it more photo friendly, but I can’t wait to go back and try more of their wines. The Viognier we had was delightful.

Still not willing to brave the subarctic temperatures (I’m only slightly exaggerating) we moved the shoot to Kansas City’s Union Station and their sky walks.

Engagement Photos Set 2Having shot there before, Nicole was quick to suggest it, and again, I’m glad she did. While I love the historic nature of Union Station, the sky walks offer such a clean, bright look. Perfect for a laid back feel that really showcases Jeff and me as a couple.

Now here’s where I get really cheesy…these photos make me so thankful for Jeff, family so graciously helping us out, and the big day still to come. Thanks again for following along, we can’t wait to share more of our journey!

My heart might be melting…

and I’m only exaggerating a little. I mean aren’t my ‘little’ Cosmo, and our friends daughter Addie just the sweetest?

Addie and Cosmo 1

Every time she’s over Cosmo just follows her around thinking (or at least I’m guessing he’s thinking) he’s going to have to jump in and save her at a moments notice. You never know.

Well this time, Addie was just big enough (she’s growing so fast!) that she wasn’t even slightly afraid to pet or love on him. I couldn’t get enough.

I think he’s just smitten by this tiny, cute little human. But then again, how could you not be with a little smile like that one…

Addie 1 BW

Brb. Going to mop up my melted heart. 🙂

P.S. I also snapped a few family photos of Ben, Grace & Addie for their upcoming Christmas card and as a result I got this little gem out of the mini-shoot. Got to love babies.

Our friends had a baby…

as in the friends that let me snap those cute photos of their last days as a family of two. Well…now they’re a little family of three, and Miss Adeline couldn’t be a cuter addition.

Adeline

Jeff and I were lucky enough to visit Addie when she was less than 24 hours old! She is so tiny and sweet that I thought about just borrowing her for a few days. 😉

Grace in the Hospital

^^Also, can you believe Grace just had Adeline like 18 hours before this photo was taken?^^

I’ve never had a child, but I’m guessing I won’t look as good as Grace did a day later.

These two are some of the first of our close friends to have a baby, and it was just amazing to see them beaming over the birth of their beautiful daughter. We can’t wait to watch Miss Addie grow, but hopefully not to quick!

Sunset, Spring, and softball…

make for a great combination. And this past week, I caught the prettiest sunset at the Jefferson Memorial on my way to an office softball game on the National Mall.

While my softball skills are obviously critical to the team’s success, 😉 I couldn’t help snap a few photos of what started out to be a really nice spring evening in D.C. Rain eventually forced us to end our game early, but I managed to get a few photos in beforehand. I also got a hit, but hey, who’s counting?

Washington Monument

Not the prettiest look, but the Washington Monument needs some repairs after the “big” east coast earthquake.

How cute are they? I adore them.

We might not have won the game (or any so far this season) but, at least we got a pretty sunset out of the deal. There’s always next week!

Our friends are having a baby…

and we couldn’t be more excited for them!

Maternity Photo 5

There are times when I still can’t believe we’ve reached that age in our lives where we could possibly be responsible for another human life, but based on my Facebook feed it’s happening. 🙂

If anyone’s ready for the responsibility it’s our sweet friends Ben and Grace who are due to welcome their first little one – a girl – in a matter of weeks. And before the big day arrives they asked if I would snap a few last photos of them as a family of two. I was honored to help, but it’s pretty easy when Grace is such a cute little pregnant women.

With their permission (of course), I wanted to share a sampling of this adorable couple before they become parents for the first time!

They’re adorable, aren’t they? Send all your positive thoughts their way. We all can’t wait to meet their little daughter soon!

P.S. a big thanks to my talented photographer/cousin over at Nicole Clifford Photography for giving me a few pointers before the photo shoot. If you’re looking for a photographer in the Kansas City area you should look her up!

Where do I begin…

Oh hello.

I’ve gone and done it. I’ve started a blog.

IMG_0420

I know there are millions of blogs out there about food, style, pets, home decor, etc…but I still wanted a place to share my life here in Washington, D.C., with my family and friends in Missouri, Iowa and all over the country. I’m not sure I have any friends internationally, but correct me if I’m wrong!

I’m particularly excited to start sharing stories with you, because not only have Jeff (the boyfriend) and I decided to move-in together, (scary, I know!) but we just adopted an adorable puppy named Piper. I’m totally and completely in love with her and our five-year-old boxer Cosmo. I’m sure you’ll be hearing more about them later. 🙂

Sweet, Sweet Cosmo

Plus part of the moving-in together entails Jeff and I doing a lot of work on his house before the big move-in day in March. And right now I’m kind of obsessed with decorating, so I’m looking for an outlet (that’s where you come in) to share my thoughts and ideas. Feedback is always welcome.

I’ve also kind of taken up the whole photography thing and what better way to share all those photos, right? Besides I don’t really want my Facebook friends to hate me for posting photos all the time.

So…I may not be perfect at the whole blogging thing just yet, but bare with me, I plan to try my hardest.

Welcome aboard. I hope you’ll enjoy the site!

P.S. as much as Jeff may protest blogging, he came up with the name. Don’t let him tell you otherwise. 😉
