They just grow up so fast…

these two. 🙂

Dogs Playing

So in the midst of weddings (not ours yet!) and working on our never-ending project (at least it feels that way), I’ve realized I’ve forgotten to give you all a little update on the pups. I know you’ve been clamoring for one.

Well luckily for you, they’re still crazy and cute as ever. Which….is probably why I followed them around the yard last weekend for far too long trying to snap the best photos.  I’m that dog mom I’ll admit it, but hey, at least Jeff was thankful the camera wasn’t on him for once.

Dogs Playing 2

I think she’s saying, “Wait, you took my toy Cosmo!” Or something like that.

Piper in the Backyard

^^I mean, but seriously, would you be able help yourself either?^^

Okay, so aside from chasing the dogs around, we did get SOME work done. That was until Jeff’s tools failed.

As we wait for the new ones to arrive, I thought I’d leave you with a little photographic evidence of the next phase of the project.

Cutting the Kitchen Countertops

We’re getting there slowly but surely. And, here’s hoping we have a much more productive weekend!

P.S. Oh yeah, and Happy Halloween!

Sicker than a dog…

I guess since Piper’s a dog and currently the sick one in the house, I probably need a new metaphor, but poor little girl is not feeling so great. 😦

Piper Sick 1

After the long night we had, we’re all taking it easy today. I think Jeff and I may have gotten a little taste of parenthood last night. Turns out we’re not our happiest selves when we have to clean up after the dog at 3am.

Piper Sick 2

Cosmo’s not sick, but relaxing shouldn’t be a problem for him. 🙂 He’s got the whole nap thing figured out.

Cosmo

Happy Friday all. Hopefully yours is off to a better start!

P.S. any tips out there for taking care of a dog with an upset stomach? The more help the better!

It’s for the dogs…

A few years ago if you’d told me I would willingly spend a weekend at the lake with six dogs (yes, six) I would have thought you were crazy. Now, I just think I’m crazy for loving my dogs a little too much. 🙂

Chase, Piper and Cosmo in Lake

A meeting of the minds.

At the risk of going a little overboard (no pun intended), I took lots of photos of Piper and Cosmo hanging out with Jeff’s parents and sister’s dogs this past weekend at Lake Anna, Va.

Lake Anna

It’s one of my favorite places in Virginia.

Chase in Water 1

You may remember, Jeff’s parents adopted both Piper and her brother Chase at a shelter in Texas and then generously let us take her back over Thanksgiving. Well this time, his parents and their three dogs made the drive from Texas to Virginia to hangout with all of us for a few days. And Piper and Chase (the dog in the photo above) couldn’t have been happier to be reunited. It warmed my heart.

Chase and Piper Fighting Over Sock

Fighting just like any brother or sister would do!

Chase and Piper in the Lake 2Chase and Piper in the Water

You might have noticed that Cosmo’s not in the water with them, well…he’s very fast and has a tendency to run away, so he can’t be trusted off the leash. Poor guy just had to standby and watch. 😦

Cosmo Staring at the Lake

Oh, and they just adopted a new nine(ish) year-old Pomeranian (no one’s entirely sure of his age) named C.J., who I’m quietly plotting ways to steal. This dog is not only adorable, but so calm. If you walk him a block he’ll be ready for a good three-hour nap. Similar to my way of life. 😉

CJ

This dog. He gets me.

Peyton and CJ

Peyton the puggle on the left, whew is she full of personality. She starts a little trouble every now and then.

I promise there were humans present this weekend too, it’s just all those photos aren’t quite as cute.

Oh hey….

Piper

do you need something?

Yep, this was our crazy puppy Piper’s (say that three times fast) general state this morning.

Sometimes that girl is just too much for me.

Happy Friday!

Hello Spring…

Where have you been? I’m still not convinced you’re around to stay, but at least we got a full day’s worth of sunshine and warmth.

Cosmo Smiling

Can you tell someone was a little excited about the sunny Saturday?  He wasn’t the only one.

I don’t have too much room to complain about a harsh winter (remember our snow day?) compared to some of my friends and family in the midwest, but gosh am I just as ready for Spring to stay around for good.

Jeff Painting

We literally spent our entire Saturday outside working on a little project I’m excited to share with all of you later this week. It’s not quite finished, but as soon as it’s done I’ll be sure to highlight Jeff’s handy-work (and a tiny bit of mine) for all of you. It definitely has Pinterest written all over it.

I know the suspense is probably killing you, but I promise it will be worth the wait. 🙂

Piper 03.30.2013

So…after a long and productive day in the sun we were exhausted. It’s hard work chasing around Jeff and the pups all day photographing their every move. Sadly, I’m still not sure who has more patience for my hobby, but I’m hoping they’ll all thank me for it some day. 😉

Also, it’s worth noting it’s baseball’s opening day (Nats won in case you were worried) and if that doesn’t say Spring, I don’t know what does.

She can’t help she’s so cute…

and thanks to a floor length mirror we bought (later returned) Piper was able to see what we’ve been telling her for months.

Piper Looking in the Mirror

The mirror was only around for a week, but I think she used it more than I did, which is saying a lot :). The girl can’t help herself, she’s got style. Can you blame her?

I think I took approximately fifty photos like this, because every few minutes she would walk in front of the mirror just to make sure she was still there. It was adorable. And of course, I couldn’t resist sharing it with all of you!

Here’s hoping you’re enjoying the weekend and the springlike weather (finally).

Snow(ish)questered…

was not a whole lot of this:

Piper in the snow

but more like this:

rain boots

with a lot of this:

Grilled Cheese and Soup

Cookies

oh and this too:

Piper and Cosmo sleeping

Not that I’m complaining. A day spent at home with Jeff and the pups is aok in my book.

Painting Trim…

is NO fun at all.

Paint Can

It’s time consuming, tedious and boring (Jeff warned me of all these things beforehand, but I chose to ignore him). I take back what I said last week about how much I love new trim.

Taking Off Paint 2

Jeff took off about 50 years of paint with a heat gun! Trust me, it needed to be gone.

Taking Off Paint

However, after a full-day of painting, we’ve pretty much finished my entire dressing room/office! Once we get furniture in the room I’ll post before and after pics. Who knew one small room could take so long to renovate?

Painting Trim

For all those young couples out there looking to test your relationship, try spending an entire Sunday in a small room concentrating on paint, and I promise you’ll find some things you disagree on (not that we would know 😉 ). Also, pointing out flaws in each others work will definitely help things go smoother. 😉 It’s all part of the growing process, right?

Dogs Playing Outside

Don’t worry they’re not attacking each other, it’s just how they play.

I wish I could say the dogs (namely Piper) were complete angels all weekend, but we have a few chewed-up DVD boxes, a shoe, and a head band to prove otherwise. The perils of having a puppy! Don’t worry though, of course I snapped my weekly quota of dog photos. I wouldn’t want to disappoint all of you. 🙂

Piper and Cosmo Outside

Cosmo’s growing increasingly self-conscience of his graying facial hair, so don’t mention it next time you see him.

Besides, I can’t think of a better excuse to take a break from painting than checking on these two. Jeff might disagree, but hey, someone’s gotta do it. 😉

Today was just a quick glimpse of what we worked on over the weekend, but hopefully I’ll have some more detailed before and after shots for you soon!

Hope your week is off to a good start!

P.S. and I hate to admit this on the World Wide Web, but the weekend did end with me having to utter the words “you were right” to Jeff. Turns out I don’t know as much about home repairs as I thought I did. Don’t worry he hasn’t let me forget it.

I Know, I know it’s Only a High-Five…

But I’m convinced when it’s Piper, it’s the cutest thing in the entire world (yes, the entire world). And when it’s just that cute, how can I not share it with all of you, right?

Piper-High-Fiving

It’s official, I’ve become the type of dog parent I always swore I’d never be (as in I take wayyy to many photos and brag about everything they do) but oh well, I guess there are worse things I could do. 🙂

Hope everyone’s having a great weekend!

Six Sweet Months…

Piper Upside Down

How could you not love that face??

Today our sweet, sweet Piper is six months old. We’ve only had her for about two and a half months (some days it feels like six), but my has she grown!

Piper First Came Home

Piper with her brother Chase the day they were adopted. So little!

We’re so lucky Jeff’s wonderful parents found her and her brother (Chase) at a shelter in Texas at the beginning of October and asked us if we’d like to take her home when we came to visit at Thanksgiving. I’d been wanting a puppy for a few months so when the offer came, it was all I could do to immediately say YES! Jeff, unlike me, was not naive to the knowledge that puppies are A LOT of work, so he took a little convincing. Thankfully not too long. 🙂

Piper Floppy Ear

Now don’t get me wrong, we’ve had our ups and downs….

Let me tell you, that was a long day.

but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. 🙂

Piper at the Lake

We love you sweet girl and we’re so glad you’re ours!
